COUNCILLORS AND POLICE JOIN FORCES

Lindley Ward Councillors are joining forces with Sgt Simon Short of Lindley Neighbourhood Policing Team to hold a monthly residents surgery together at Salendine Nook Shopping Centre starting this Saturday.

Cllr Burke, Sgt Short and Cllr Woodhead at Salendine Nook Shopping Centre.

The new joint surgery will take place on the second Saturday of each month, between 11am and 12 noon at the popular local shopping centre.

The three Lindley Lib Dems – Cllr Woodhead, Cllr Burke and Cllr Stanfield – hold surgeries throughout the month at different venues across Lindley ward, but this is the first to be held jointly with the police.

About the new venture, Cllr Cahal Burke said:

“I am really pleased to be joining up with the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Sgt Short to hold this surgery together.  It makes a great deal of commonsense.  The issues people approach me with often need me to get in touch with the police; so having us both there mean’s we will be able to get on addressing the issues people have straight away and hopefully get them sorted quicker.  People will also benefit from getting information from the council’s angle as well as from that of the police at the same time.  I could see it working really well and anticipate being kept busy.”

Sgt Short said

”We work in partnership with the council on many community issues so it makes sense that we should provide the public with an opportunity to speak to us together about the issues that matter to them the most”
