Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice named as official charity for the inaugural Lindley 10K Charity Running Event

Organisers of the inaugural Lindley 10k charity running event have announced that the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice will be the running events official charity.

While runners are completely free to select their own charity to run and raise funds for, the event and its organisers will be encouraging people to raise money for the Children’s Hospice both at the 10K and at Lindley Carnival which takes place the day before.

Samantha Wood, Senior Community Fundraiser for the charity said:
“We are extremely grateful to the Lindley Community Group for choosing to support Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice by organising the 10k and the Lindley Carnival. So much hard work and effort has been put in to making the weekend a huge success, and we can’t wait to see the results!”

Lindley 10K is being organised by the Lindley Community Group in partnership with local schools, community groups, running clubs and Kirklees Integrated Youth Support.

The event will take place on Sunday 30th June, the day after Lindley’s annual summer Carnival.

On the day there will bell be 2 runs. At 9am there will a fun run for children between 4 and 16 years of age. Then at 9.30am the 10k will begin.

The course has been officially measured by a UK Athletics course measurer and the community group is affiliated with England Athletics.

Cllr Cahal Burke – one of the founding members of Lindley Community Group – said:

“We’re really pleased to announce the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice as Lindley 10K’s official charity in it inaugural year. It does tremendous work for very sick children and their families and we will be doing our utmost to raise as much money as possible to help them. People can of course pick their own charity to run for and we hope that a lot of money will be raised for worthwhile causes on day.”
