Cllrs Tony Woodhead, Cahal Burke and Christine Stanfield have said that
- The housing development would bring unacceptable levels of air and noise pollution
- The numbers of jobs promised by the proposed data campus are not high enough to justify development
Spawforths, an independent planning consultancy offering planning, architecture and urbanism began their pre-planning consultation on behalf of Miller Homes on Wednesday 16th February at Lindley Methodist Church Centre.
Lindley Moor is a cherished piece of local green space which is quickly diminishing in our area. 300 homes would bring somewhere between 300 and 900 extra cars to the area and its roads which are already very busy bringing with it unacceptable increases in noise and air pollution which are sound planning grounds for refusal.
Cllr Cahal Burke said:
“We’re not against homes being built in Kirklees or indeed our ward but we think there are other areas in the borough that could be used ahead of this one. I am of the view it is the wrong time and the wrong place for a development like this.”
I live in the area and I agree with you, the congestion created by this development would be unacceptable; noise, air pollution and simply the loss of a green area in a location that already has to deal with the M62 right on its doorstep. My worry is also the addition pressure on the local schools, created by such an influx of people. How do we go about preventing the proposed house building and industrial build going ahead?
