As you are probably aware, we have spent quite a lot of money from our Area Committee Budget, making Lindley a “No Cold Calling Zone”.  This was done both at the request of some residents and with the approval of the Police to try to cut down on bogus callers. Burglaries frequently take place when residents are talking to some one at the front door while another person enters by the back door and makes off with anything of value that they can grab. However I am being told by residents that people are still cold calling; offering products and services quite regardless of the signs in people’s houses, this practice is prohibited in Lindley. 

My advice is that if people come to your door offering services unsolicited, that you ask them for a Business Card and if none is offered, tell them that this is a No Cold Calling Zone and you will inform Trading Standards.  If a business card is obtained, then you can either call the Council’s Community Safety Officer on 01484 226931 or ring Trading Standards direct on 08454 040506.
